It's pretty hard to condense into a few lines the fundamental reasons why I am a painter, an abstract painter,
to be precise.

I spent twenty years in broadcasting as a DJ for the major radio stations in Tuscany.
However, when I moved to London I found that I needed a new, non-verbal and more universal
means of expression for my diverse thoughts and emotions.

Painting was and is the best way to do this. I was also heavily influenced in this choice by my father,
who was an eclectic artist and a dedicated teacher.

My paintings are not "abstractions" from any real landscape or object; they are born through a
spontaneous - although lifelong - process, which is deeply rooted in the intimate and disquieting
aspects of my subconscious; a sort of sensuous reverie that builds a bridge between the inside and the outside.

The typical issue about the artist's need/search for inspiration is not predominant in my work
because my main aim is to inspire in the viewer a dynamic attitude towards my work.
I hope that the fruition of the experience comes about by inspiring an open, active and
preconception-free approach to the paintings.

In my latest pictures, layers of colours and textures, create a symbolic engagement with the complex
nature and diverse facets of human existence. The inevitable length of time that such a way of
working on a painting requires, is a reflection of the gestation needed to create anything from within.
The resulting artwork will always bear a title connecting the feeling triggered by the picture,
or the personal emotion that made it possible.

And that's why, only in total abstract art, can I embrace the infinite possibilities
of expression and stimulate a dialogue with others.
